MACHAME 6 DAYS KILIMANJARO CLIMB

Itinerary Description by Day
Get picked up from the hotel in Moshi and drive to Machame gate for registration formalities. Start climbing through banana and coffee plantations of Machame village. Proceed by hiking into the rainforest which displays beautiful views of the valleys below. Have lunch enroute and proceed with the trail to reach Machame camp in the evening. Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 2. Machame Camp (2835 m) To Shira Camp (3850 m).
Climb through montane forest into the moorland zone displaying spectacular views of Kibo(Kilimanjaro’s second highest peak). Proceed with the steep climb passing through Shira Plateau to break for lunch enroute. The trail leads to Shira Camp to arrive in the evening. Rest and have refreshments upon arrival while waiting for hot dinner.
Day 3. Shira Camp (3850m) To Lava Tower (4600m) To Barranco Camp(3900m) .
The day is meant for acclimatization where you trek from the Shira plateau through “Garden of Senacious” to climb Lava tower. Get time to rest and have lunch while at the tower. Descend the tower and continue hiking to reach Barranco camp. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Day 4.Barranco Camp (3900 m) To Karanga Camp (4000 m) Barafu Camp (4600m)
Start climbing steeply up the Barranco wall, the 900 ft cliff. Pass through hills and valleys approaching the Karanga valley where you will break for lunch. Trek out of Karanga to join the junction connecting with Mweka trail. The steady climb leads to Barafu camp to arrive in the evening. Rest upon arrival and drink lots of water in preparing for the summit. It’s advised to sleep early by 07:00 pm.
Day 5. Ascend To Uhuru Peak (5895m) .
Wake up around 11:30 pm for a hot cup of tea and putting on trekking gears. By midnight, leave the camp and start climbing into the glacial zone. Climb steeply to reach Stella point (5735 m) by sunrise after 6 walking hours. Get time to rest awhile being amazed by the stunning view of sunrise. Take another round trip to reach the summit at Uhuru peak. Take photographs while feeling accomplished standing at the roof of Africa. Start descending which is quite fast to reach Mweka hut. Dinner and sleep at the hut.
Day 6. Mweka Hut (3100 m) To Mweka Gate .
After a hot breakfast, descend through the rainforest to reach Mweka gate. Get awarded upon arrival where hikers who reached Stella point receive green certificates while those who reached Uhuru peak receive golden certificates. Show gratitude to the team by tipping cookers and porters according to personal satisfaction. Drive back to Moshi/ Arusha for much celebration or a flight back home
